First of all, a company called Northwest Window Coverings (based in Renton) found out about my fundraiser from an employee that read my story in the West Seattle Herald. Each Friday they receive a pizza party lunch if they meet sales goals - and they decided that last Friday they wanted to forego their pizza party lunch and wanted to have that money donated to my fund. AMAZING! Mind you, I have never met these folks before! Not only this - but they ended up winning the $100 my friend Imelda Dulcich put up for a drawing for anyone who made a donation. So when my friend Lisa called to tell them they won - what did they do? They wanted me to have it to do with it what I would like. So I am donating it to our team for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure in their name. Thank You Northwest Window Coverings! Your generosity is inspiring!
Secondly, my friend Tom Hutyler, who is the voice of Safeco Field (and has been the public address announcer for the Mariners since 1987) - attended the party! He donated to the raffle, giving his season tickets for a game as well as a tour of the announcers box to one lucky winner. But he also announced the raffle prizes on Sunday. Mid-way through the raffle an attendee of the party said he would donate $20 if Tom would announce Ken Griffey Jr.'s name (like he used). Tom did such a great job of getting more people to donate - people were coming up to the stage stuffing money in my pocket *read cleavage* (sorry Dad). So for just over $120...Tom announced Ken Griffey Jr.'s name as if he were still playing centerfield for the Mariners. The crowd went WILD! So much fun! The only thing better would have been to see Ken Griffey himself trot through the doors of the Bridge.
A couple more things...my friend Brian Bell (aka. Pete Seazle) of the West Seattle Fun Blog was our MC for the evening. And he did an AMAZING job! He offered to let me shave his head that evening on stage! So THAT I did! Giggling the entire time and having a ball! I think he'll agree - it's more nerve wracking than you would think to take clippers to your head. There is something final about it. Luckily it will grow back (for him sooner than mine will)...but it was a very sweet gesture! My friend and former boss from ClearChannel Media, Steve Adams, also had his friends collect over $200 for him to get his head shaved. So - clippers on again...I started shaving his head too! Awesome show of support guys! You're the BEST!

Oh ONE MORE...
My parents have been part of the Hope Lutheran Church Choir since I was little - my Dad has now been the choir director for about 15 years (I think). Anyhow this week, in lieu of gifts to my parents for their birthdays (which they both celebrate this week) ... they all donated money and raised over $500 for my fund. What incredible hearts this group has. Many of them have seen me grow up over the years - and it is amazing to me that they would support me in this way. Thank You Choir!
There are just some wonderful people out there, doing wonderful things! If you every doubt that people still have good generous hearts - I will be the first to remind you! I pray for the day I can pay it forward!
